• Afternoon snack

Was feeling uninspired, but looked down and saw these little guys.

This model was picked this afternoon in a friend’s backyard, by my 3 year old. After I post, I am going to slice it in half, and use it for scampi–just a one-person supper tonight. Unfortunately, the flu has struck again here and my husband is in bed.

  • Outside Amici’s

Arrived at my dentist a few minutes early and found street parking, outside Amici’s Pizza on Union. I only had 4 quarters, and knew the appointment would take one hour, so I did a quick watercolor sketch of the meter as I waited until the last moment to dump my change in, and hurry upstairs. Came out after an hour and a few minutes and yay, no ticket!

A day off. Sunny. Made it to a morning exercise class. Spent the afternoon with a dear friend, having lunch and seeing a matinee. Came home to kiss them goodnight. We ate leftovers and drank wine.

Home with two tired kids, today. Rainy afternoon. We tried the Randall museum but it was closed, so we went off to Target, in the fog and mist, for something to do. I am sure that someday I will look back on these days wistfully. Sometimes I feel so deperate for an activity that I am willing to drive 25 minutes to push them around in the cart and get them a soft pretzel…

My 22 month old son has the stomach flu. Cheerios are about all he can manage right now…

  • Yard

We just had our last round of landscaping done in our tiny yard–we actually have grass, now!

This new sketchbook is feeling great. I love how it accepts whatever media I am using–this is watercolor and collage. I also prefer the white paper to the off-white of the moleskine….
