• Big Rock

Stephen Covey talks about putting the big rock in the bowl first as a way to insure that you get accomplished what is most important, otherwise those smaller rocks will fill up the bowl, leaving no room for the big rock. Drawing every day has become my big rock, and although I have to steal the time while my 2 year old is napping and my 3 year old is at preschool, it’s a necessity.

  • Three views from the DeYoung

We went to the spectacular DeYoung Museum today. From the tower observatory you get 360 degree views of the city…I couldn’t decide what to draw, and so I chose three views.

  • Jubilent Iris

A friend brought over 3 dozen iris last night…they were closed up and then by the morning had just exploded. They are a joyful touch to this first rainy day in a while.

I have waited until nearly bedtime to do this drawing and I find that my energy level is waaaaay down. But I am still okay with what happened here. Kind of a liberating drawing….

We bought 75 cent paint boxes at a toy store in Noe Valley yesterday, dug out the disks of paint and filled them with gouache. A perfect, portable OPAQUE medium!!

  • Celebration cork!

A thank you gift from one of Andy’s co-workers—a bottle of 1996 Dom Perignon. Shared it with my mom and dad who are in town. It was truly spectacular! I am not a connosieur but I could tell it was something special.
